What is BreakPanel?

You create a board (usually one spot per team in a sport), viewers watch it as a transparent overlay in your stream, and you claim/mark-hit spots from a control panel as the break happens. It also includes a free public checklist library for looking up set lists mid-break.

How do I create my first board?

Go to Team Boards → New Board, give it a name, and pick a sport — its full roster imports automatically. For a break that isn't team-based (a specific insert/parallel chase, a non-sport break like Disney characters, etc.), pick Custom instead — it starts empty and you add spots by hand from Customize. Pick a starting style (or leave the default), then Create. You'll land on the control panel, which is also your board's main page from then on.

Where's my control panel?

Your board's own page (Team Boards → click a board) is the control panel — that's where you claim teams, mark hits, toggle animations, and copy your overlay URL for OBS. Customize (the gear/settings link from there) is a separate page for the one-time-ish setup: colors, layout, logos, and your roster.

How does claiming work?

Click a team's cell on the control panel to toggle it between available and claimed. That's it — no confirmation step, since during a live break you want it to be a single tap.

How do I mark a team as "hit"?

Right-click a cell on desktop, or press and hold it on a touchscreen (about half a second). That marks it hit and fires the hit animation (a full-screen pop of that team's hit image and sound, if you've uploaded them) — separate from a plain claim, since a hit is the moment you actually want to celebrate on stream.

What are division boards?

Instead of one spot per individual team, a division board groups every division's teams into one claimable spot (e.g. "AFC East" instead of Bills/Dolphins/Patriots/Jets separately) — good for a division-based break format. It's available as a "Group by" choice when creating a board, or from Reset Roster in Customize, but only for sports that have divisions defined — today that's NFL only. A division cell shows each member team's logo (or a color dot + abbreviation if no logo's uploaded) in a small row under the division name.

How do I edit my roster — add, remove, or rename teams?

Open Customize and scroll to the Teams / items list. You can rename an item, give it a custom color, upload a logo/card image, upload a hit image and hit sound, or delete it — and add a new item by name at the bottom. This is also where you'd add an extra spot that isn't a real team (a bonus slot, a "mystery" spot, etc.).

How do I reset my roster if I picked the wrong sport?

In Customize, use Reset Teams (under the roster section). It deletes every current item and reimports the sport's roster fresh — pick Teams or Divisions first if your sport supports both. This does not touch your theme/colors/layout, only the items.

How do I add buyer names after a break?

Accepted Answer

Once every spot is claimed or hit, the control panel shows an "Upload CSV" prompt. Export your sales from Whatnot (or wherever you sold) as a CSV and upload it — BreakPanel guesses the team and buyer-name columns automatically (it recognizes Whatnot's own export headers). Choose Match to only update teams that already exist on the board, or Replace to delete-and-recreate the whole roster from the file instead. Replace warns you first if less than half the CSV's team names actually match your board, in case it's the wrong file.

How do I show the sold list on stream?

Once you've got buyer names in (from CSV or manual claims), click "Reveal sold list" on the control panel. It shows full-screen on your overlay with every claimed team and its buyer — pick a style (tablet look, clean list, or scrolling ticker) under Customize → Sold list.

What's the difference between a style preset and designing my own?

Style presets (Customize → Style preset) are complete look-and-feel packages — colors, shape, corner radius — that an admin has set up (some sports have a dedicated default that's applied automatically). Picking one overwrites your current theme settings below it. Everything a preset sets is still just individual settings you can then tweak by hand afterward — presets are a starting point, not a locked mode.

What's "Team colors" vs "Pick your own"?

Under Customize → Colors, this toggle decides whether each cell uses its team's real color, or a flat color you choose yourself. Switching to Team colors hides the individual color pickers (there's nothing left for them to affect) and actually recolors every item on the spot — switching back to Pick your own clears those colors back to your flat cell color. Division boards don't offer Team colors, since a division cell has no single team's color to show — only the swatch dots do.

How do I control the grid layout — columns, height, shape?

Customize → Layout. Columns only offers counts that divide your roster evenly (accounting for a webcam spot if one's enabled) so you never get an awkward half-empty last row. Board height has Compact/Medium/Large presets or a custom value. Shape is rectangle or hexagon cells. Frame padding adds a margin around the whole grid — it defaults to 40px so cells don't sit flush against the very edge of your stream, which tends to get covered by a platform's own UI (viewer count, buttons, etc.).

How do I make logos bigger, or show text instead?

Customize → Team display. "Show" picks Logo only, Text only, or both together (logo-only automatically falls back to the team name if you haven't uploaded a logo for that team). Logo size is a slider from 50% up to 300%, for an intentionally oversized-logo look — logos are clipped to their cell, so sizing up never breaks the grid.

Can I change what a claimed team looks like?

Yes — Customize → Claimed teams. Choose a checkmark, a red X, or a fade (dims the whole cell) for whatever's claimed.

How do I add my webcam to the board?

Customize → Webcam spot. Turn it on, pick a corner (top-left, top-center, top-right) and a size — teams automatically flow around the reserved space so nothing overlaps it. This just reserves a transparent gap in the overlay; your actual webcam still comes from a separate source in OBS, positioned to line up with that gap.

Can each team have its own logo, hit image, or hit sound?

Yes, per item, in Customize's Teams / items list. Logo/card image shows on the board itself (subject to your Team display setting); hit image and hit sound play during that team's hit animation when you mark it hit. You can also bulk-apply logos from the shared logo library via "Sync logos," which matches by team name without touching claims or colors.

Three break-format banners you toggle on manually during a stream: Stash or Pass (shows while the picker decides), Pick Your Team (lets viewers know they can choose any open team), and See 2 Pick 1 (for that specific format). None of these fire automatically — they're a deliberate on/off you flip live, the same way you'd narrate the moment out loud.

How do I turn an animation on during a stream?

Click its tile in the Animations panel on the control panel — click again to turn it off. Use the "+" tile to add more animation types to your panel if you've removed one.

How do I move or resize the whole board — not just an animation?

Click the gear icon on the board preview itself (in the control panel, on top of the grid) for a Board position control — separate from any individual animation's position. It's meant for nudging the whole board away from wherever a platform's own UI ends up covering part of your video, since that varies by app and device and can't be predicted in advance.

How do I get my board into OBS?

On your control panel, click "Copy overlay URL." In OBS, add a new Browser Source to your scene and paste that URL in. The overlay page has a transparent background, so it layers over your camera/game capture without a box around it. Nothing needs a login — the URL is enough on its own, so treat it like a password (anyone with the link can view your board's live layout).

What size should I set my OBS Browser Source to?

Depends on which canvas shape you're actually using — pick it under Sizing & Position (the gear icon on your board preview) → "Your OBS canvas," then set your Browser Source's width and height to match exactly what's shown there: 1920×1080 for Landscape (OBS's own default) or 1080×1920 for Portrait (Whatnot's own recommended canvas). Sizing & Position's preview, and its Whatnot crop simulation, are only accurate once that setting matches what you actually typed into OBS.

I changed a setting but OBS still shows the old version — what do I do?

Click "Refresh overlay" on the control panel. OBS's Browser Source can hang onto a cached page even after you've changed something, so a plain reload sometimes isn't enough — this forces a real fresh load. Give it a few seconds to take effect.

Why is part of my board covered or cut off once I'm live?

First, double-check Sizing & Position → "Your OBS canvas" actually matches your real OBS Browser Source dimensions — a mismatch there makes the preview inaccurate before you even get to nudging position. Beyond that, it's most likely the platform's own UI sitting on top of your video — viewer count, chat, buttons, and similar overlays that the platform itself draws on top of the raw stream, which BreakPanel has no way to detect or avoid automatically (platforms don't publish exact safe-zone dimensions). Frame padding (Customize → Layout) defaults to 40px specifically to keep cells off the very edge, and the board position gear icon lets you nudge and resize the whole board to dodge whatever's actually covering it on your specific setup — the fix is usually to watch a short test stream on the device you'll actually be viewed on and adjust from there.

Does the overlay work if I'm not using OBS?

This usually means the CSV's team-name column doesn't match your board's item names closely enough (a totally different naming format, or the wrong file entirely). Try Match mode first — it's non-destructive — and double check you exported the right listing/date range.

My board looks different in the preview than it does live in OBS — why?

The control panel's preview is deliberately sized for usability on your own screen (capped columns on mobile so cells stay tappable, for example) — it's not meant to be pixel-identical to the real output. The overlay URL itself is the source of truth for what viewers actually see.
